There was some discussion at lunch today about shoring things up. It turns out that Tevis "was never told" that were wearing denim and tie-dye. I think he just won't admit he forgot.
Jamie, Brian, and I worked a lot today. It turns out that the rods are strongly in place. We did a lot of finishing up things and I got my dad to bring all the stuff that I assumed Brian had. I do tot think this is overstepping our adult bounds because it was specked. Brian attached the lead screw to the motor that will power it and we are well within time limits. It takes 4 seconds to extend the full 1 1/2 feet (down from 3) in 4 seconds at 12 volts. Increase the voltage to 18 and you get 2 seconds. Tevis will be arriving at 6 and I may be around because this is our last chance. In other news, we attached the leads to the upper clamp motor (using solder), actually put the two halves together, and more.
Later, I epoxied the two strings that operate the lower clamp. Jamie worked on the catcher. I'm not sure what Brian was doing. I burnt out at about 5:45 but was able to catch myself and take a break. I didn't recover very well and cracked again at 6:15. Tevis showed up at about 6:30, while I was taking a break. I never did recover and finally at 7, I quit, somewhat gracefully. I got Tevis to take on what I was going to work on.
Well, my life is a little hectic now thanks to the Tech Challenge but I'm having fun. We just might have something to show for our efforts.
The inchworm is going to be done. we will find out if it works tomorrow. we are going to eric's for testing tomorrow. tevis was a life-saver coming fresh when the rest of us were getting burned out. the big day is tomorrow!
