Where: My House

Jamie's family came over for dinner tonight so he and I worked on the backup most of the time and got it to work pretty well. It had trouble going down because of the mechanics of a worm gear. We re-vamped the upper section to include fewer pieces to cut back on weight and it worked. We are now using two motors and the whole thing is pretty small.

Jamie:

The second motor has been attached to the backup, but because of the fact that we're sing worm gears the weight of the device is heavy enough that it tries to spin the worm gear faster than it can go. Anyway we made the device lighter and changed the frame. Now it can go fifteen feet up and fifteen feet down in two minutes. Major progress in my opinion. Also the inchworm almost certainly isn't going to be done on time because Brian and Tevis are both gone this entire week. Looks like it's a good thing that we made the backup. One problem with the backup is that Brian doesn't like k'nex because with k'nex he doesn't have power.
