Where: Brian's House

Brian and I met after school today from 3:00 to 5:00. We actually started working on the Tech Challenge at 4 because of transportation and snack. We outlined the design we were going to use, discussed roadblocks, and Brian showed me a few motors we might use.

We discussed the gear system that is the heart of the inchworm, extending and contracting the two sections. I think we've settled on an aluminium rod with notches cut by a metal lathe. At some point, we are hopefully going to get Brian's dad to teach us how to use the metal lathe. During the discussion, I advocated just using a rack from a rack-and-pinion gear. The advantage of this is that we don't have to make it ourselves and it will mesh better with the gears.

Jamie:

I didn't have an entry for 3/10 so I put Jamie's thoughts here.

i wish we weren't doing static teams
