The meeting at school started off OK but lapsed into heavy argument between Brian and Tevis for about 20 minutes. --During the argument, I had an idea that builds on Tevis's disc construction. The best hay to connect the disks is not by rods but by bolts. Use nuts to anchor the plates. The advantage is reasonable strength, removability, and fast construction, just drill a few holes and put the bolts through. -- The argument was about how to proceed. Brian thinks we need to do a lot of designing and planning, not just charging forward. Tevis thinks we should push forward and just start building. I lean toward Tevis but I'm staying out of the argument. Eventually, they settled on the fact that we need to decide on the materials. After the argument, we settled down and got down to business deciding on what we would use. We got rid of the inner plates on Tevis's idea so the insides are more exposed. Brian suggested that instead of covering up the insides, just make them neat. We liked the idea because we think the judges will be able to see how the device works. We also decided that a jib sheet clamp should work for the bottom end. Then, we moved on to how fast we need to go. This is pretty major for such an alternative design. We figure that we can go at least twice as fast.
After school, Jamie, Brian, and I met at Brian's house. We first had a snack and Jamie never stopped snacking. Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of time and every time I tried to focus us on the Tech Challenge, I failed. Basically, we got nothing done.
arguements are way to common between tevis and brian. (odd).
good they've stopped arguing.
brian is way to stubborn.
