Today, our science teacher Linda, gathered a few of the engineer types at my school and asked if we wanted to be in the Tech Challenge. Two kids dropped out after about half an hour and the group shrunk to 5 kids. Conrad (6th), Avi (6th), Tevis (7th), Jamie (8th), and me (7th). Ideas were abundant right off the bat and they all had the same basic premise. Power and operate it with lego mindstorms, and have two rotary objects on opposing sides using friction to climb up the rope. One group (Jamie, Tevis, and me) proposed using treads while Conrad and Avi advocated gears or wheels instead. The one person that wasn't present but would be interested is Brian.
