K'NEX towers

A few years back, I discovered an extremely piece-efficient way of building towers out of K'NEX. I eventually built two that reached the ceiling of my room easily. One of them had a shaft running up the middle that allowed a motor at the bottom to spin something at the top. I eventually lost interest, since I had reached the maximum height. Yesterday, I had a chance to work with a lot more K'NEX and a lot more height. I built a 15-foot tower that dwarfed me. It's biggest flaw was that it was top-heavy. I came home and invented a way to allow the tower to be tapered. That didn't work that much better.

After I got home, I rebuilt the tower over a period of several weeks. On June 29th, 2003, it reached 12 feet. July 16th, I got all the way to 15 feet. I documented this endeavor well but don't have the time to post pics.

Although I have many pictures, I have posted none because I lost interest in this project too quickly. Maybe someday you will be able to see pics.
